Emergency Relief

On February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake hit the southern region of Türkiye, close to the Syrian border, resulting in significant loss of life and extensive damage to buildings. Tzu Chi KL & Selangor responded quickly by launching a fundraising campaign to support the relief efforts. The volunteers went to various locations such as markets, shopping malls, schools, parks, recycling points, apartments, and even outside mosques to collect donations and gather support for the earthquake victims.

“During the time when I was at the hospital, alone and not knowing the fate of my wife, the visits from Tzu Chi volunteers brought me peace and strength,” said a grateful survivor.

The light emitted by a single firefly is faint, but the light of a group of fireflies is enough to light up the darkest sky. The strength of one person is limited but moving the hands of a hundred or a thousand people is enough to remove the thick mud, giving back the earth a cleaner appearance, and restoring the flood-ravaged houses.
